I’m the girl in the corner.
No matter where I am –
At a party, at a club,
On the bus, in the classroom –
I’m always near a corner, my mouth shut
And my eyes facing forward.
Chances are, I don’t know anyone around me.
I’m here alone, or with a friend
Who has abandoned me.
And so I stand alone,
Desperate to talk to someone,
But to scared to approach anyone.
And so I stay in the corner
Stewing in my solitude
And hoping for the day
When I’ll have the courage to make myself happy.

Wow, my entire soul in a single poem. Maybe we ought to go to a party together. Thank god there are usually snacks.
